Job Title: Assistant Director of the Bottineau Park District

Classification: Administration

Annual Salary: $50,000. -$60,000. Based on previous Education & Work Experience

Accountability: Assistant Director is responsible to the Park Director and Bottineau Park Board

Bottineau Park District Job Summary:
The Park District Assistant Director will oversee, along with the supervision of the current Director, the administration, directing, managing staff, maintaining, planning and evaluating park and arena facility operations throughout the City of Bottineau.

This position will also administrate and coordinate recreation programs utilizing park district facilities throughout Bottineau.    

Administrative Responsibility/Accountability:

  • Assist the current Director to fully understand the duties and responsibilities of the Director position.  
  • Organize and supervise an efficient administrative organization for the Park District.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of all parks and facilities to meet the needs of the community and region.
  • Assist to Develop and recommend to the Board an annual working budget.
  • Assist the Board appointed Treasure with all daily, monthly and annual financial transactions.
  • Perform the duties as the official Board Secretary.
  • Coordinate efforts to obtain federal, state and local funds to assist the District’s operations.
  • Coordinate and expand the existing Recreation programs and activities for youth and families utilizing current Park facilities.    
  • Coordinate usage agreements and schedules with all park and ice arena user groups
  • Management of full and part-time staff, marketing, community support, technical support and leadership.

Facilities:
Operate, maintain and market the Community Arena, a 13-site RV Park, Tommy Turtle, Forestry and McBain Parks.

Programs & Events:

  • Coordinate the Park District Youth T-Ball, Baseball & Softball Coach Pitch program.
  • Oversee and assist current Soccer Coordinator with a Spring Soccer program
  • Coordinate a variety of recreational programs and camps for youth and families along with other special events.  

Education and Experience:
Previous work experience or education is necessary in business, recreation, facility management or a related field with a minimum of 3- year’s experience and/or equivalent bachelor’s degree in the field of recreation and facility management.       

Certifications:

  • Must have or able to obtain a valid ND Driver’s License.
  • CPR, First Aid & AED training or the ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.

Work Hours:
Primarily a 40 hour work week, however the Assistant director must be flexible when necessary to work extended, evening or weekend hours to insure facilities are available for public use.

Benefits:

  • ND Public Employees Retirement (NDPERS) – Park Board will contribute 10% and employee will contribute 5.26% to the plan for a total of 15.26% of employees hourly wage.
  • Fully paid Medical Single Policy – currently BC/BS
  • Workmen’s Compensation
  • Annual Leave: 1st year 42 hours / year
    • 2nd - 8th year 78 hours / year
    • 9th -15th year 120 hours / year
    • 16th -20th year 162 hours / year
    • 21st year & over 200 hours / year
  • Medical / Sick leave: Earn 8 hours / month
  • Holiday Pay: Ten Paid 8 hour days per year
  • Bereavement Leave: Up to five days paid for an immediate Family member
